Chapter 44 - The Sovereign's Invitation

Three days after the collapse of the Duval empire, the rain finally cleared over Long Island, leaving the crisp, salt-scented autumn air sparkling under a pale morning sun.
Khloe stood on the expansive marble balcony of her private seaside estate, the gentle ocean breeze catching the edges of her ivory silk robe. Below her, the manicured gardens stretched down toward the private docks where a sleek, black-hulled yacht bearing her family's crest bobbed gently against the tide. Khloe smiled faintly, folding the letter in half and tossing it casually onto the nearby table as if it were nothing more than a discarded junk mail flyer.

She turned away from the balcony, her heels clicking softly against the marble floor as she walked back into the sunlit suite, leaving the door open to the vast, waiting world outside—a world that now bowed entirely to her will, with the final, echoing mystery of the Zurich vault lingering just beyond the horizon...
