Chapter 25 - The Zurich Summons

By midnight, the private airstrip at Teterboro Airport was whipped by freezing rain and howling winds. A sleek, silver Gulfstream G650 bearing the private insignia of the Vance-Miller global alliance sat idling on the tarmac, its turbine engines screaming against the darkness.

Gabriel stood at the base of the boarding stairs, watching as Marcus loaded secure cases of encrypted evidence into the cargo hold. Behind them, two black armored SUVs idled, their headlights cutting through the sheets of rain.

Khloe emerged from the second SUV, holding a sleeping Elena wrapped tightly in a cashmere blanket. Her posture was straight, her expression an impenetrable mask of sovereign grace. She wore a tailored charcoal wool coat, her twenty-carat blue diamond catching the amber glow of the runway lights.

"The flight crew is secured," Gabriel said, stepping forward to shield her and the baby from the driving rain with his broad shoulders. "We have a secure diplomatic flight path straight to Geneva. Harrison won't know what hit him until our lawyers serve the injunction at his alpine estate."

"We aren't going to Geneva, Gabriel," Khloe said, stopping at the foot of the stairs.

Gabriel frowned, water droplets glistening on his dark hair. "What do you mean? You just said—"

"I said we invite them to New York," Khloe interrupted smoothly, her dark eyes flashing in the storm. "Harrison thinks he’s operating from the safety of his Swiss fortress, untouchable behind international probate laws. But he forgot one crucial detail: the jurisdiction of the New York Supreme Court supersedes any archaic family charter the moment he filed a fraudulent motion in our judicial district."

Marcus stepped up, holding a secure tablet. "She’s right, Gabriel. The moment Harrison filed that emergency custody petition in Manhattan, he subjected himself to American federal jurisdiction. My contacts in the DOJ just signed off on an international arrest warrant for corporate fraud and attempted child abduction."

A slow, grim smile spread across Gabriel’s face—a look of pure, terrifying predatory satisfaction. "The old bastard stepped right into our trap."

"Exactly," Khloe said, handing baby Elena carefully into Gabriel’s waiting arms. Gabriel cradled the infant with a gentleness that contrasted sharply with his lethal reputation. "We aren't running to Switzerland. We are setting the courtroom for a public execution."

Just as Gabriel turned to ascend the stairs, his secure satellite phone began to vibrate violently in his pocket.

He pulled it out, glanced at the screen, and pressed accept. "Vance."

*“Gabriel,”* a smooth, cultured European accent echoed through the receiver—the voice of Dr. Harrison Vance himself. *“I see you received my little video postcard. Impressive defiance, my boy. But you cannot fight the council. The Zurich Trust owns the very air your company breathes.”*

Gabriel switched the phone to speaker, holding it so both he and Khloe could hear.

"You made a fatal mistake, Harrison," Gabriel’s voice was like grinding ice. "You filed a motion in a New York court. Which means you are no longer just a disgruntled exile—you are a fugitive of federal law."

A soft, arrogant chuckle came from the other end of the line. *“Fugitive? Dear nephew, I am currently sitting in a private suite overlooking Lake Geneva, surrounded by Swiss diplomatic immunity. Your American warrants are worth less than toilet paper here.”*

"Are they?" Khloe stepped closer to the phone, her voice cutting through the wind with razor-sharp precision. "Check your Swiss bank accounts, Dr. Harrison. Specifically account number ending in 8842."

Silence stretched across the line for three agonizing seconds.

On the other end, the sound of rustling paper and a sharp intake of breath echoed through the speaker.

*“What... what is this?”* Harrison’s cultured veneer cracked instantly, replaced by sudden, frantic panic. *“My accounts... they’re being frozen by the Swiss Federal Banking Commission!”*

"When you hacked the Mount Sinai maternity records, your digital signature routed through a secondary server in Zurich owned by your own holding company," Khloe said, her tone dripping with icy contempt. "Marcus forwarded that IP address to our contacts in the Swiss financial intelligence unit thirty minutes ago. Your diplomatic immunity doesn't cover money laundering, Harrison. Your funds are locked. Your estate is surrounded. And your council has already abandoned you."

*“You... you bitch!”* Harrison screamed, the aristocratic mask completely shattered. *“You think you’ve won? The council will never let—!”*

Khloe tapped the screen, terminating the call with a definitive *beep*.

She looked up at Gabriel, who was staring at her with a mix of awe and profound, burning adoration.

"Shall we board, Mr. Vance?" Khloe asked, her lips curving into a triumphant smile.

May you like

"After you, Mrs. Vance," Gabriel replied, kissing her forehead before leading his family up the stairs into the storm-cleared sky.
