Chapter 11 - Total Collapse

Alexander stepped out into the hallway, closing the door behind him. "What is it, Elena?"

Elena opened the red-tabbed folder, handing him a satellite reconnaissance photograph taken less than two hours ago.

"The Vanguard Global transport ships docked at harbor berth 17... we seized them, just like you ordered," Elena explained, her voice tense. "The local manifests matched Julian’s confession: money laundering, contraband weapons, human cargo."

"And?"

"And when our technical team breached the sub-deck of the third vessel, they found something that wasn't on Julian’s ledger. It wasn't Catherine’s operation, Alex."

Alexander looked down at the photograph. It showed an underground reinforced shipping container, painted with a military crest he recognized instantly—the insignia of a rogue black-budget intelligence group known within special operations circles as *The Archon Network*.

"Catherine and Julian thought they were the masters of this county," Elena whispered. "They were just local subcontractors. The real buyers of that port, the people funding Vanguard Global... they aren't civilian corporate executives. They are high-ranking figures inside our own defense infrastructure."

Alexander’s jaw tightened. "Who was the shipment addressed to?"

Elena hesitated, looking directly into Alexander’s eyes. "To the commanding officer of your own overseas division. General Douglas Vance. Detective Marcus Vance's brother."

The hallway suddenly seemed to spin. The corruption didn't stop at Blackwood County’s borders. It didn't even stop at Catherine Miller. The betrayal reached straight into the heart of Alexander’s own chain of command. Rosalie hadn't just stumbled into a family crime syndicate; she had accidentally kicked the hornet’s nest of a shadow military coup operating on American soil.

"Does Marcus Vance know?" Alexander asked, his voice low and dangerous.

"He disappeared from his office twenty minutes ago," Elena said. "He left his badge and gun on his desk. His patrol car was spotted heading south toward the interstate."

Alexander closed the folder with a sharp snap. "Put an APB out on Vance. Notify Hayes. We are not safe here. Prepare Rosalie for air transport to Walter Reed Military Medical Center immediately."

"And what about you, Commander?" Elena asked.

Alexander looked back through the window of Room 4. Rosalie was sleeping peacefully, bathed in the afternoon sunlight, unaware that the shadow hanging over them had just stretched across the entire country.

"I’m going to finish this," Alexander said.
